Description:
3-Methyl-6,7-dihydro-1,2-benzisoxazol-4(5H)-one is a tetracyclic compound that has been shown to be catalytic in the alkylation of pyridine with methylene malonic ester. The reaction was carried out on a small scale and the desired product was isolated. 3-Methyl-6,7-dihydro-1,2-benzisoxazol-4(5H)-one does not react with enolates or hydropyridines. This compound can be hydrogenated to form 2-(3′,4′methylenedioxy)tetralone.
