2-Methylundecanal is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have an anti-aging effect on human skin cells. It also inhibits the production of acetaldehyde and unsaturated ketones, which are generated by the oxidation of alcohols. 2-Methylundecanal has been shown to be able to penetrate the skin barrier and is also soluble in water. The anti-aging effect may be due to its ability to increase the synthesis of hyaluronic acid and collagen in human skin cells. 2-Methylundecanal can be used as a microencapsulation agent for cosmetic preparations such as creams, lotions, or moisturisers. This compound can be synthesized from ammonium nitrate, methyl anthranilate, ethyl formate, and deionized water.
