MLN 4924 is an investigational agent that has been shown to inhibit the neddylation of proteins in cell culture. MLN 4924 is a small molecule inhibitor of protein neddylation and prevents the formation of protein-protein interactions. MLN 4924 is also known as NEDD8 Inhibitor 2 (NID2). The drug has been shown to have minimal toxicity in mice and does not interfere with DNA binding activity or protein synthesis. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of tumor growth in mouse models, but is currently being evaluated for use in human cancers.
