Methyl 4-methyl-2-propyl-1H-benzimidazole-6-carboxylate is a monoclinic compound with an elemental composition of C 8 H 9 NO 2 . It has the molecular formula CH 3 C 6 H 5 N 3 O 2 . The crystal structure of this compound is shown in Figure 1. The molecule has a hydrolytic reaction, which is the process of breaking down a molecule into two or more parts by adding water. This reaction takes place in the crystalline lattice, where the hydrolytic products are water and methyl 4-(methylene)cyclohexane carboxylate. The molecular weight was determined to be 241.23 grams per mole (g/mol). The melting point is 148 degrees Celsius, and the boiling point is 249 degrees Celsius at atmospheric pressure.
