Product Information
- 3'-Methyl-beta-Nitrostyrene
1-(3-Methylphenyl)-2-nitroethene is a nitro compound that can be synthesized by the reduction of nitrobenzene with sodium, potassium, or calcium in the presence of carbon monoxide. It has been shown to be an efficient reductive agent for carbonyl compounds and multisubstituted ketones. Nitration of 1-(3-methylphenyl)-2-nitroethene with sulfuric acid gives 1-(3-methylphenyl)-2-nitrophenol.
