Magainin 1 is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptide that is known to bind to microbial membranes and disrupt their function, leading to lysis. Magainin 1 has been shown to be effective in treating autoimmune diseases such as hemolytic anemia and lupus erythematosus. This peptide also demonstrates anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
