Product Information

Name:
Nitromalonaldehyde
Synonyms:
  • Propanedial, 2-Nitro-
  • 2-Nitromalonaldehyde
Description:

Nitromalonaldehyde is a nitro compound that is activated by intramolecular hydrogen. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animal models of autoimmune diseases and ameliorates hyperproliferative disease. Nitromalonaldehyde inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and suppresses the release of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids. Nitromalonaldehyde also inhibits the production of other proinflammatory mediators, including prostaglandin E2, leukotrienes, and nitric oxide (NO). This drug may be used as a diagnostic tool for identifying disorders that are related to nitrosation reactions.
