Product Information
- 1-Nitro-2-(phenylmethoxy)benzeneBenzyl o-nitrophenyl ether2-Benzyloxy-1-nitrobenzene
o-Nitrophenyl benzyl ether is a cell membrane ionophore that has been used to measure the chloride transport by escherichia coli cells. It is an anionic compound that produces a color change in response to the chloride concentration. The uptake of o-nitrophenyl benzyl ether can be monitored by measuring the intensity of light passing through the solution. This process is called ion-selective spectrophotometry. The use of this agent as a cell membrane ionophore is limited to short-term experiments, since it will break down over time and may produce false results.
The solvents used for this chemical are benzyl alcohol, pentane, and triethylamine.
