1-O-Octadecyl-2-O-benzyl-sn-glycerol (ODBG) is a novel antiviral drug that is being developed for the treatment of HIV. ODBG inhibits HIV by binding to the virus and preventing it from entering cells, which prevents the virus from replicating. ODBG has been shown to be effective against other viruses as well, such as herpes simplex virus and respiratory syncytial virus.
