Obtusifoliol is a potential drug target that has been shown to be active against Candida glabrata in vitro. Obtusifoliol is a plant-derived fatty acid that inhibits the growth of various fungi, including Candida albicans, by binding to the ATP-binding cassette transporter and preventing the uptake of ATP. It also binds to fatty acid receptors on the surface of cells and inhibits HIV infection. Obtusifoliol has also been shown to have antifungal activity against resistant mutants and chlorogenic acids, which may help prevent opportunistic fungal infections.
