Description

Proadrenomedullin (1-20) is a polypeptide that is found in human plasma. It is a member of the vasoactive intestinal peptide family and has been shown to be involved in the regulation of vascular tone, blood pressure, and blood vessel permeability. Proadrenomedullin (1-20) also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-6, and interleukin-8. This compound has been shown to have antiviral activity against HIV and herpes simplex virus type 1. Proadrenomedullin (1-20) also functions as a growth factor for tumor cells.
