This is a synthetic peptide analog of Sauvagine (11-40) that is an inhibitor of myosin phosphatase. It has been shown to have locomotor activity and physiological effects in rat models. The peptide binds to the ryanodine receptor and inhibits the release of cytosolic calcium, which leads to the transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Chronic exposure has been shown to cause brain dysfunction, including symptoms such as hypoactivity and hyperactivity, with receptor knockout leading to neuronal death. This discovery may lead to a pharmacological treatment for epilepsy.
