Description:

2H-Pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2,4(3H)-dione is a pyranone that exhibits optical absorption and fluorescence. The optical absorption spectrum of 2H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2,4(3H)-dione shows two bands at around 250 nm and 300 nm. This compound has been used as a fluorophore for DNA sequencing techniques. 2H-Pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2,4(3H)-dione can also be used in polyester synthesis. It reacts with halides to form alkylating agents that are useful for the production of polymers. In addition, this substance has been shown to enhance the activity of organic catalysts such as acid phosphatase by increasing their solvation power.
