Ponasterone A is a potent anticancer agent that inhibits the growth of tumor cells. It binds to specific receptors on the surface of cancer cells and causes them to die by preventing their DNA from replicating. This drug has been shown to be effective in animal studies, reducing the size of skin tumors in mice and inhibiting colorectal adenocarcinoma in rats. Ponasterone A also binds to DNA, which may activate genes that suppress cancer cell growth.
