Product Information

Name:
Pentaethylene glycol dimethanesulfonate
Synonyms:
  • 3,6,9,12-Tetraoxatetradecane-1,14-diol 1,14-dimethanesulfonatePentaethylene glycol dimesylate
Description:

Pentaethylene glycol dimethanesulfonate is a modulator that inhibits efflux transporters. It is used as an inhibitor of multidrug resistance and to treat cancers, parasitic diseases, and drug-resistant bacteria. Pentaethylene glycol dimethanesulfonate binds to the drug efflux transporter protein in the bacterial cell membrane, thereby blocking its function. This inhibits the export of toxic substances from the cell and prevents their accumulation inside the cell. Pentaethylene glycol dimethanesulfonate also has anticancer activity by inhibiting DNA synthesis by binding to the DNA gyrase enzyme.
