Product Information
- L-Prolyl-L-tryptophan
Pro-Trp-OH is a small molecule that has been shown to inhibit the replication of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in vitro. The compound is also active against influenza virus, HIV and other RNA viruses. Pro-Trp-OH binds to the aminoacyl tRNA synthetase, preventing translation of viral protein. In addition, the compound inhibits virulence factor synthesis by binding to the enzyme proline racemase. Molecular modeling studies have shown that Pro-Trp-OH can interact with hydrogen bonds between the amino acid residues of HCV. This interaction prevents conformational changes in HCV proteins, which are essential for virus replication and may lead to drug resistance.
