• Description: Sodium hexadecyl sulfate is a nonionic surfactant with emulsifying and solubilizing properties. It is used as an industrial chemical, a catalyst for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, and in textile processing. It has been shown to be effective in the production of chlorophyll a. Sodium hexadecyl sulfate is also used as a fluorescence probe to measure metal ions such as Ca2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, Mn2+, Ni2+ and Zn2+.
