Product Information

Name:
Sutherlandiosid B
Description:

Sutherlandiosid B is a natural product that belongs to the class of glycoside derivatives. It has been isolated from honeybush (Cyclopia sutherlandii) and is a new compound with a unique chemical structure. Sutherlandiosid B has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa-light-chain enhancer (NF-κB), which is a protein complex that regulates gene expression. NF-κB plays an important role in inflammation, immunity, and cancer development. Sutherlandiosid B also inhibits the production of fatty acids and may be used for the treatment of hepatic steatosis. The anti-inflammatory properties of this compound are due to its inhibitory effects on toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). The toxicity studies have shown that this compound does not cause any adverse effects in humans or animals at doses up to 1,000 mg/kg body weight.
