Description

1,1,3,3-Tetramethyl guanidine is a reactive nitrogen compound that has the ability to react with metal hydroxides. It is used in chemical synthesis and as an additive in paints. 1,1,3,3-Tetramethyl guanidine forms adducts with metal hydroxides at elevated temperatures. The addition of water to this reaction can produce hydrogen gas and ammonia gas. 1,1,3,3-Tetramethyl guanidine is also known for its high resistance to heat and chemicals. It is stable under acidic conditions and can be used as a stabilizer for organic esters.
