Description:

tert-Butylferrocene is an aromatic hydrocarbon with a diameter of 2.5 nm. It is the simplest ferrocene and is composed of two ferrocene units. Tert-butylferrocene has been shown to be a good electrode for gold, which can be used for electron transfer reactions. It also has a high ultraviolet absorption coefficient in the range of 200-800 nm and an absorption maximum at 350 nm. The α-tocopherol present in tert-butylferrocene may serve as an antioxidant, protecting it from oxidation. This compound also has the ability to absorb radiation with activation energy between 0 and 25 kcal/mol, making it useful in radiation studies.
