L-Threonine amide hydrochloride is an amino acid that is soluble in water. It can be synthesized by reacting threonine with an amine, such as ethylamine or diethylamine, to form the corresponding amide. The reaction scheme for this process is shown below. This organic compound is used as a solvent in organic synthesis and has been found to be useful in the porcine transpeptidation reaction. L-Threonine amide hydrochloride reacts with a nucleophile (e.g., alcohol) to form a new molecule containing both the original residue and the new residue. This product also has high yields, which are achieved through immobilization of the lipase on a solid support during the reaction process.
