Description

Tyr-Gly-Gly-OH is a peptide hormone that is a potent inhibitor of the uptake of the neurotransmitter enkephalin. It has been shown to be an effective treatment for pain, as it blocks the release of enkephalins from nerve endings in response to inflammation and also inhibits their reuptake. Tyr-Gly-Gly-OH has also been used as a marker for immune reactions. The antibody response to this molecule is dependent on the presence of other antigenic substances and can be used to identify substances that stimulate antibody production. This molecule can also be used in analytical methods for the identification of other pharmacological agents.
