2,3,5,6-Tetrabromo-4-methyl-4-nitro-2,5-cyclohexadien-1-one is a brominating agent that reacts with amines to form bromides. It is used as an intermediate for the production of other chemical compounds. This agent can be extracted from acetone and it has been found to react with nitric acid to form 2,3,5,6-tetrabromo-4,6dinitrobenzene. 2,3,5,6-Tetrabromo-4 methyl 4 nitro 2 5 cyclohexadien 1 one is sensitive to radical mechanisms and can be used as a nuclear trackable substance.
