Tetraphenyl-1,3-disiloxane is a donor in organic chemistry. It can be used as a nucleophile and has been shown to react with pyridinium to form a tetrahedral intermediate which can undergo the following reactions:
Reaction 1: Tetraphenyl-1,3-disiloxane reacts with pyridinium in the presence of an oxidizing agent such as dioxirane to form an enolate.
Reaction 2: Tetraphenyl-1,3-disiloxane reacts with pyridinium in the presence of an amine and a base to form an amide.
Reaction 3: Tetraphenyl-1,3-disiloxane reacts with pyridinium in the presence of water to form a hydroxide.
