1-(Trifluoroacetyl)-5-Indolinesulfonyl Chloride is a potential antitumor agent that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by blocking their ability to produce DNA. It has been shown to be active against a broad spectrum of tumor cells in vitro, including those resistant to other antitumor agents. 1-(Trifluoroacetyl)-5-Indolinesulfonyl Chloride binds with high affinity and specificity to the hydride ion at position N1 of the indoline nucleus, which is thought to be important for its mechanism of action. The substituent on this nitrogen atom (trifluoroacetyl group) is necessary for its activity.
