Product Information

Name:
Xenopsin-Related Peptide 2 (XP-2) trifluoroacetate salt
Synonyms:
  • H-Phe-His-Pro-Lys-Arg-Pro-Trp-Ile-Leu-OH H-FHPKRPWIL-OH
  • H-Phe-His-Pro-Lys-Arg-Pro-Trp-Ile-Leu-OH
Description:

Xenopsin-Related Peptide 2 (XP-2) is a bioactive peptide that is found in the human pancreas and duodenum. The sequence of XP-2 was determined using gel chromatography, and it is shown to be identical to xenin, an endogenous protein. The amino acid sequence of XP-2 is H-Phe-His-Pro-Lys-Arg-Pro-Trp-Ile-Leu; it coelutes with xenin and has been shown to have antiinflammatory activities in humans. XP-2 has been shown to stimulate production of endogenous somatostatin and pancreatic polypeptide in humans, as well as ileal motility.
