Product Information

Name:
Astressin 2B
Description:

Astressin 2B is a synthetic peptide that is derived from the amino acid sequence of the human protein vasopressin. It has been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemoattractant proteins in experimental models. Astressin 2B also has an effect on intestinal motility by increasing the release of dopamine, which binds to receptors in smooth muscle cells and causes relaxation. Astressin 2B also inhibits cellular physiologic processes related to neuronal death and disease activity, as well as carcinoma cell lines. Astressin 2B has been shown to have cardiac effects, such as increased heart rate and contractility, when administered intravenously at high doses or injected into cardiac tissue. The activity index for astressin 2B is higher than that for other vasopressin-derived peptides, but lower than that for native vasopressin. Astressin 2B also inhibits cyclase activity and glutamate release.
