Product Information
Ribonuclease H is a monoclonal antibody that has been shown to bind to the carbonyl group of mutant enzymes. It is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of RNA in aqueous solutions. Ribonuclease H binds to histidine residues on protein surfaces, and it is believed that this interaction induces a conformational change in the enzyme’s active site, which exposes the carbonyl group for attack by water. The binding of ribonuclease H also removes the hydrogen bonds between adjacent amino acid residues, causing them to protrude from the surface of the protein. The removal of these hydrogen bonds is thought to be due to hydrophobic interactions between ribonuclease H and nearby fatty acids.
