Dodecane-1,12-diamine, N-BOC protected is a macrocyclic diamine that is chiral and has an intramolecular hydrogen bond in the form of a hydrogen bond formation. It also has a cyclic amide skeleton and can form hydrogen bonds with anions. Dodecane-1,12-diamine, N-BOC protected has been used as a chiral auxiliary for biomolecular purposes, such as forming oriented hydrogen bonds. This product shows dichroism when it absorbs light at wavelengths of 420 nm and 500 nm. Dodecane-1,12-diamine, N-BOC protected is also useful for spectroscopy and other applications that require orientation of molecules.
