Neodymium chloride is a reactive metal compound that can be used in the preparation of other neodymium compounds. Neodymium chloride is prepared by dissolving neodymium metal in hydrochloric acid and then heating the solution to about 100 degrees Celsius. The solution is then evaporated to yield the desired product, which includes magnesium salt and several nitrates.
