The compound is a reactive liquid that can be used as an intermediate in the production of esters. 2-Ethylbutyl acetate can be produced by refluxing furfural with silicon at 120°C. The reaction produces the desired product in high yields and low temperatures. The molecular weight of 2-Ethylbutyl Acetate is 136.2 g/mol, with a boiling point of 153°C and a density of 0.854g/ml.
