3-Decen-2-one is a natural product that is used as a control agent for pests. It has been shown to have a regulatory effect on the circulatory system, inhibiting the production of butyric acid and thereby reducing blood pressure. 3-Decen-2-one has also been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect in tumor disease models and is able to inhibit the growth of human cancer cells. The insecticidal properties of 3-decen-2-one are due to its ability to disrupt hydrogen bonds in cellular membranes. 3-Decen-2-one can be synthesized from solanum tuberosum (potato) or with analytical methods that involve solid phase microextraction (SPME).
