It has been shown to have similar biological activities as the parent compound, including anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, and teratogenic effects. 5-(Hept-4-yl)-2H-tetrazole has been shown to be an acetylated analog of valproic acid. It has also been shown to have spectroscopic properties similar to valproic acid. 5-(Hept-4-yl)-2H-tetrazole has not been characterized in vivo or in vitro at this time.
