1-Methyl-1H-indol-2-amine (1MI) is a synthetic compound that can be synthesized by the reduction of a carbonyl group. It belongs to the class of lactams and has been used in the synthesis of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid, aldehydes, halides, disulfides, carboxylic acids, dihydro-1-methyl-1H-indole, chlorides and pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidinones. 1MI has been shown to react with amines to form azepino derivatives. 1MI also reacts with aromatic halides to produce a variety of substituted 1H-indoles.
