Acetylacetonato(1,5-cyclooctadiene)iridium(I) is a red-orange solid that is used in organic synthesis. This compound has been shown to react with acetylacetone in the gas phase and form an iridium carbonyl complex. Acetylacetonato(1,5-cyclooctadiene)iridium(I) also reacts with cyclopentadienyl (Cp*), which is a volatile compound that has a high vapor pressure and can be detected by mass spectrometry. In addition, this compound undergoes thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and thermodynamic analysis when heated or cooled. The element analysis of this compound includes atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), and electron probe X-ray microanalysis (EPMA).
