Bis(2-methylallyl)(1,5-cyclooctadiene)ruthenium(II) is a synthetic compound that belongs to the group of organometallic compounds. This compound is used as a catalyst in the preparative method of terminal alkynes, pentane, and transfer hydrogenation. Bis(2-methylallyl)(1,5-cyclooctadiene)ruthenium(II) has been shown to be insoluble in water and organic solvents. It is also used as a ligand in Grignard reagents and as a catalyst for alcohols.
