Product Information
6-Methyl-pyridine-2-carboxamidine hydrochloride is a ligand that binds to metal ions. It can be used as a chelate in X-ray crystallography to study the structure of metal ions. 6-Methyl-pyridine-2-carboxamidine hydrochloride forms heteroleptic complexes with square planar, linear, and dinuclear structures. The compound can be synthesized by refluxing the two reactants, pyridine and carboxamide, in concentrated hydrochloric acid solution. 6-Methylpyridine-2-carboxamidine hydrochloride has been shown to form equilibrating complexes with copper(II) ion in the crystal x-ray diffraction study. The vector for this complex is [CuL6]4-.
