It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human retinal pigment epithelial cells in vitro, which may be due to its ability to induce flavanones. Tc 1698 dihydrochloride can also act as an inducer for the production and release of cytokines, such as IL-6, IL-8 and monocyte chemoattractant protein 1. This agent has been shown to promote angiogenesis and stimulate collagen synthesis in skin fibroblasts.
