• Description: 8-Bromoadenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphorothioate, Rp-isomer sodium salt (8-BrAMP) is an activated analog of adenosine that binds to the cyclase enzyme and inhibits its activity. It has been shown to inhibit the production of epidermal growth factor in a model system. 8-BrAMP also blocks the synthesis of cyclic nucleotides by inhibiting cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase, which results in increased levels of cAMP. 8-BrAMP has been shown to inhibit HIV infection by acting as a transcription-polymerase chain inhibitor and blocking HIV mRNA synthesis. The drug also inhibits cell lysis by binding to calmodulin and β-catenin.
