2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoroguanosine-5'-triphosphate tetralithium salt (2'F-GTP) is a novel nucleoside analog that is used as an anticancer agent. It is a phosphoramidate prodrug of 2'-deoxy-2'-fluoroguanosine, which is converted to the active form by dephosphorylation. 2'F-GTP has been shown to inhibit DNA synthesis and cause tumor cell death in vivo and in vitro. This drug also has antiviral properties against herpes simplex virus type 1 and hepatitis B virus, as well as antibacterial properties against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 2'F-GTP was found to be more potent than cytidine 5'-triphosphate in inhibiting HIV reverse transcriptase activity and in inducing apoptosis of T cells infected with HIV.
