This compound is an activator of adenosine deaminase and inhibits the proliferation of various tumor cells. It also blocks the formation of DNA by inhibiting the synthesis of ribonucleotides. N-acetyl-3',5'-O-(1,1,3,3-tetraisopropyl-1,3-disiloxanediyl)adenosine has antiviral properties and can inhibit HIV replication in vitro.
