Product Information

Name:
Norglaucine hydrochloride
Description:

Norglaucine hydrochloride is a white crystalline alkaloid that belongs to the group of isoquinoline alkaloids. It is a derivative of glaucine and norglaucine, and can be found in plants such as Aconitum napellus L. Norglaucine hydrochloride has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which is involved in the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. Norglaucine hydrochloride also exhibits antimalarial activity against Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax. Spectroscopic methods have been used for analyses of this compound and its derivatives, including nmr analyses and analysis of melting points.
