Product Information
2-Methoxy-1-methylindole is a monosubstituted vinyl ether that belongs to the 1-cyanonaphthalene series. It is synthesized by condensation of pyrrole and 2-methoxyacetonitrile in acetonitrile followed by reaction with deuterium oxide, yielding a biradical intermediate. This compound is photoreduced to yield 3-cyanoindole. The terminal hydrogen atoms are replaced with deuterium, which facilitates the synthesis of substituted indoles. Yields are determined by NMR spectroscopy.
