Product Information
(2R,5R)-2,5-Dimethylpyrrolidine hydrochloride is a racemic mixture of the two enantiomers 2,5-dimethylpyrrolidine. It is an organic compound that is used in organic synthesis as a chiral reagent. This racemate is recrystallized from diethyl ether and ethanol to give the pure (2S) enantiomer. The salt form of this compound is the hydrochloride salt. The crystals are white and have a melting point of 136 degrees Celsius. This compound can be found in reagents such as ethanol, diethyl ether, and optically active solvents such as acetone or methylene chloride where it has been shown to be soluble. To prepare this compound for use as a reagent it must be recrystallized from diethyl ether and ethanol to remove any impurities that may cause racemization.
