9,9-Bis(4-glycidyloxy-3-methylphenyl)fluorene is a low efficiency photocurrent material that has been synthesized and characterized. It absorbs light in the ultraviolet and visible regions of the spectrum with a maximum absorption at ~420 nm. 9,9-Bis(4-glycidyloxy-3-methylphenyl)fluorene has been shown to be an analog for organic solar cells. This material is not commercially available and can only be synthesized in small quantities. 9,9-Bis(4-glycidyloxy-3-methylphenyl)fluorene can be used to detect chondroitin sulfate using fluorescence spectroscopy.
