Product Information
1-Dodecyl-3-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium chloride (DMI) is a human liver carcinogen that is metabolized to 1,2,4,5-tetrahydroquinoline (THQ). DMI was found to be cytotoxic to human hepatoma cells in vitro. The cytotoxicity of DMI can be explained by its inhibition of the enzyme activity of cytochrome P450 and glutathione reductase. This inhibition leads to an accumulation of hydrogen peroxide in the cell, which causes oxidative stress and leads to cell death. The toxicity of DMI has been studied in detail using concentration response curves and titration calorimetry. It showed high cytotoxicity at low concentrations and a concentration response curve that peaked at 0.31 mM with a Hill coefficient of 3.2. The dry weight data for DMI also show a high cytotoxic effect on human hepg
