Trans-1-(1-Naphthyl)-2-(4'-Pyridyl)ethylene has an affinity for cholinergic receptors and can be used to study these interactions. It can be used as a contrast agent in X-ray studies, or in other imaging techniques that use radiation. This drug also acts as a viscosity regulator, which may be due to hydrogen bonding between it and water molecules.
