• Description: 1-(1-Methyl-1H-indol-2-yl)-ethanone is a mononuclear acetone, aralkyl ketone with the molecular formula C9H10O. It is soluble in acetone and paraformaldehyde, but insoluble in water. 1-(1-Methyl-1H-indol-2-yl)-ethanone has been used to produce photoinduced trifluoromethyl compounds via a photochemical reaction with trifluoromethyl formate and dimethylaminoethyl acrylate. This compound can be used to prepare emulsions by reacting it with dialkylaminoacrylates. 1-(1-Methyl-1H-indol-2-yl)-ethanone is also used as a photochromic material that changes colour in the presence of light.
