Product Information
Diethyl(aminomethyl)phosphonate oxalate salt (DEAP) is a β-lactamase inhibitor that is part of the class of quarternary ammonium compounds. The synergistic effect of DEAP with other antibiotics, such as imipenem and ceftazidime, has been shown to be greater than the sum of their individual effects. This antibiotic inhibits bacterial growth by binding to bacterial β-lactamases and blocking their ability to inactivate penicillin-type antibiotics, such as ampicillin or piperacillin. DEAP also binds to cations and antibacterial effects are observed at low concentrations.
