Product Information
Cyanidin 3-arabinoside cation (C3A) is a polyphenolic compound that has been shown to have antioxidative properties. It acts by scavenging free radicals and reactive oxygen species, thereby preventing oxidative damage to cellular components. This compound has been shown to inhibit the activity of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), which are important for regulating cell growth and differentiation. C3A also inhibits mitochondrial functions by increasing the mitochondrial membrane potential and reducing the release of mitochondrial superoxide. C3A is found in high concentrations in plants, such as grape seeds, where it may be involved in physiological processes such as growth and development. The major metabolic pathway for this compound is conversion to caffeic acid derivatives, including 3-o-caffeoylquinic acid.
